$520.00

This eight-week course provides structured instruction in the fundamentals of wheel throwing and handbuilding. Instructor Michelle will guide students through the core stages of the pottery process, from preparing the clay to finishing functional pieces. The curriculum accommodates absolute beginners learning to center and raise walls, as well as intermediate students looking to refine their form, master larger weights of clay, or experiment with alterations.

Class meets weekly on Thursday mornings from 10:00AM to 12:30 PM, running from Sept 3rd - Oct 22nd.

Weekly Schedule & Dates

  • Day: Thursdays

  • Time: 10:00AM to 12:30 PM

  • Duration: 8 weeks (Sept 3rd - Oct 22nd)

Included Studio Access

To support skill development outside of instruction, registration includes 2.5 hours of independent open studio time per week. These hours must be utilized during the studio's designated open hours and allow students to practice throwing, trimming, or glazing at their own pace.

Materials and Firing Fees

  • Tool Kit: A standard pottery tool kit is required for the class. Feel free to bring your own or we have them available for purchase at the studio for $20.

  • Firing Fees: Firing costs are calculated by volume at $0.03 per cubic inch per fire. The total cost for a completed piece requiring both bisque and glaze firings is $0.06 per cubic inch.

Studio Preparation

  • Nail Length: Short fingernails are strongly recommended for wheel throwing, as long nails can gouge the clay during centering and pulling.

  • Attire: Pottery is a messy process. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you do not mind getting dirty.
