A dragon with dog ears slinks across your table, a bat with an open chest cavity that holds two spiders in love clings to your wall. A menagerie of creatures from the garden of Hieronymus Bosch parade, each with a candle held aloft to illuminate their winding path. In this functional and sculptural handbuilding workshop students will learn how to sculpt a beastie of their choice crowned with a small form that holds a candle. Grace will provide in-depth demonstrations on how to handbuild a strong, functioning candle holder from tip to tail. Through a series of in-depth demonstrations, students will grasp the technical execution of solid building, beginner sculpting, and fine tuning detail. Between demonstrations, students will have the opportunity to practice these techniques and receive direct assistance and feedback. The workshop is open to all skill levels.

This workshop includes everything you’ll need, including clay and all firings. Pieces max size is 6×6×6. You will be contacted when the work is ready to pick up, usually in about 3-4 weeks. Works will be kept up to 2 months before being donated. It is advised to pick up your work as soon as possible so it doesn’t get damaged.
